Medical Adaptations

Is mobility, long term illness, or deafness becoming an issue? We may be able to help with adjustments to your property.

We want to enable people to remain in their homes as long as possible and will carry out modifications to properties in order to make this happen.

What is a medical adaptation?

These works are part funded by the Scottish Government and allows Almond HA to carry out physical works to our properties, to enable tenants to live as independently as possible.

Medical adaptations might include:

  • Installation of banisters and handrails
  • Grabrails in the bathroom
  • Changing from a bath to an accessible shower or wet room
  • A flashing light/vibrating pillow if you are unable to hear doorbell/fire alarm
  • Automatic door openers

How do I apply?

A referral from an Occupational Therapist or GP is usually required, explaining what is needed and the urgency. This should be submitted to Almond HA.

We also started a new self referral process from 1st April 2020.

If you think you would benefit from a grabrail, you can use our self referral process from 1st April 2020. To start this process, please fill in a form to explain the issue and tell us what you need, then return the application via email or post. Please note the form needs to be signed by the person requiring the adaptation.

If you have any problems getting a referral, speak to your Housing Officer in the first instance.

Works will only be carried out whilst funding is available.
